November 2001
1 Nov - We crossed Colorado River to Arizona called into Oatman a cowboy town for tourists, "wild" burros walk around begging food. Worth the visit.
Next was Lake Havasu City. In all our travels in USA if we had to choose a place to live it would be Havasu. Great climate, pleasant shopping and the lake where London Bridge was transported. To us it is not impressive and the tourist English Village is a washout. Nothing resembles England but the place itself is great. We booked into State Park right on Lake. Our first encounter with the "Road runner".
Our 6 months visa was up mid November, so we booked 12 day trip to England on 2 Nov.
Bill and Linda visited us 6 November and we invited them to come to UK with us. On spur of moment they said yes. We spent pleasant week around Havasu. Visited Bill's Mum.
Then 9 Nov returned to Laughlin. Met ex-Brits Claire and Jim now from Victorville CA. Also Jaylene and Doc from Las Vegas. They offered to leave our van on their land in Henderson while we were in the UK.
12 Nov - Went into Las Vegas onto Oasis camping, we thought they had a storage place but not. So rang Jaylene and went to Henderson. Doc gave us lift to airport to Los Angeles. We met up Bill and Linda.
We spent 12 days in England, staying in Reading with Ian and family, 3 days. 3 days, Sarah's in Goole. 1 day Peterlee with Carolyn and Bill. Sarah and Fiona cooked great Thanksgiving dinner for Bill and Linda. Back to Reading we had bank and bits to sort out. Bill and Linda had last 2 nights in London. We met up at Heathrow.
27 Nov - with Bill and Linda, they had great time, enjoyed staying in houses and seeing non-tourist places. Doc met us in Las Vegas and we stayed overnight on their drive.
Then back on our trip again. Laughlin, we had good weather in UK and were surprised how much colder Las Vegas was in 12 days, so headed south to Havasu city, parked on Bill's mum's drive.
